Traditional Hindu wedding ceremonies can last for many days, including full prayer services. Each day would include a few rituals and elaborate feasts. Depending on the family's economic and social status, weddings could last anywhere from two to seven days.
In modern times, these ceremonies have been shortened and streamlined and typically last about three hours. My brother and his fiance have shortened their ceremony even more, removing much of the traditional Hindu prayer and ritual while trying to keep the integrity of the ceremony intact. Their ceremony will last about an hour and a half, with the "feasting" element kept intact at a reception afterwards.
